Show company updates with Emetti’s newsfeed solution
Most customers probably don’t know what your company is up to. Even if you post to social media, those messages often get lost. And your website? Odds are you don’t update it nearly as often as you should. This is where Emetti Newsfeed comes in.
Emetti Newsfeed allows you to embed a newsfeed right in your website. You can use this to share news, provide updates, and note special offers—to qualified prospects. It also takes care of scheduling, and distribution to popular social networks.

Respond to inbound questions with Emetti’s chat solution
Imagine running a storefront with no staff present. It’s a nutty idea, right? Oddly enough, most companies do so with their websites. This represents a missed opportunity: to address concerns, make suggestions, and build trust. This is why Emetti Chat is so useful—and important.
Emetti Chat allows you to add chat functionality right into your company’s website. You can use this to answer questions, provide recommendations, and build rapport with prospective customers. Plus, its shared inbox allows your teammates to respond when you’re unavailable.

This pandemic introduces a barrage of challenges for businesses. Beyond the economic implications, new communications issues arise. If you work in a public facing organization, you’re likely bombarded with questions about your status and product/service availability.
This makes the case for adding a newsfeed to your website. It affords you a way to quickly inform your website visitors—without needing to pick up the phone or respond to an email.
Still not sure about what a newsfeed is, or how it works? Visit the Emetti Newsfeed page for a more detailed explanation. Want to try one on your website? You can start the process and have it installed in less than 5 minutes.

We just implemented reactions on all Emetti newsfeeds! This allows anyone who reads your post to quickly share how they feel about it. Give it a spin, and let us know if you spot anything amiss.

Already an Emetti newsfeed user? Now you can add chat to your website, too! Doing so allows you to better answer prospect/customer questions.
Get started by visiting your Emetti dashboard; then click on Settings, and Embeds. At the top of that panel, you’ll find a switch for Emetti Discuss. Toggle that to On. Once you have, you’ll see chat integrated is your sidebar (with no overlapping of varying widgets).
Please note: this feature is in beta. As such, it can be a touch finicky. That said, it’s pretty stable, and we’re improving it daily.

Emetti started out as an SMS notifications service. We figured this required a few discrete parts: notifications, messaging, support, and posts. To get it launched, we focused on the last of those parts. In time, though, we realized that SMS wasn’t the right channel for what we wanted to do.
We released the newsfeed service, and kept working on the other parts. As we did though, our logo (i.e., icon) felt wrong. It played with the idea of sending an SMS. This was about pushing something out. But, we’re building a tool for interacting with your customers, members, and insiders.
Finally, we set some time aside to get this right. After a few too many variations, we have a new icon. This mark is simple, meaning it works across-the-board. It’s also better attuned to what we’re about: growing your brand by supporting your customers.
Admittedly, this is not a huge deal. That said, we wanted to share the thinking behind this change. You should see this in place on the website and app in the days to come. 🙂

See that time gap in our posts? That’s right—between October 3rd and January 4th, we didn’t post an update to our newsfeed. (This is kind of weird, given that we’re promoting a newsfeed service.) Why the gap? Well, we’re working. 🤷♂️
Truth is, this tool isn’t as good as it should be. It’s incomplete and buggy in spots. These issues drive us crazy! So, for the past months we worked hard to address these issues. Have we fixed all of them? Heck no! But, Emetti’s stability has improved substantially—and continues to.
These changes aren’t worth much attention, individually. However, when seen in unison, they’re non-trivial. Put differently: These days, I use this tool and think to myself: “Damn! This is solid.”
So, I apologize for the radio silence. That said, we’re in this for the long haul. Sometimes this means putting our heads down, and just doing the work.

Just a small update: When we first designed the newsfeed, we set images to a maximum depth. Our reasoning for doing so was to encourage cleaner, more consistent, looking posts (like you’d see in social feeds).
That said, a number of users reached out. They told us that they found this limiting. As a result, we’ve removed image depth restrictions, allowing you to run tall/square images if you wish.

Billing notifications start this week
October 3rd, 2019
Like many startups, we launched an incomplete product. Doing so allowed us to hear your feedback—which informed our roadmap and priorities.
One missing piece was billing. So, anyone who signed up had free access to any account tier—with no prompt to pay for the service. This was non-optimal, but those workflows weren’t our first priority.
We now have those elements in place. So, Emetti customers will receive prompts to select a plan, in the days ahead. If you get one that doesn’t jibe—or you need to extend your trial— contact me and I’ll help.

We no longer offer a free plan
September 25th, 2019
Freemium is a common SaaS model. It allows you to try a product for free—and pay for added options. This often works, but isn’t optimal. Free tiers tend to be significantly limited, forcing to upgrade. Meanwhile, free and paying users tend to have different needs.
For these reasons, we replaced our free tier with a paid one. (It’s reasonably priced.) Doing so helps fund ongoing development. This means a better product for you, through added features and regular improvements. Additionally, by concentrating on paying customers we’re more able to prioritize the right features.
Few things in life are free. For example, you might not pay for your brand’s Facebook page directly. The trade-off is your audience—which Facebook owns and charges you to reach. When you use products like Emetti, you pay a known sum up-front, and retain ownership of your content and subscriber list.
Take back ownership of your brand’s communications, by starting your own newsfeed.

An option to go badge/tab free
September 19th, 2019
Some tell us they dislike having to show a badge/tab on their site—just so users can access a newsfeed. As such, we added another display option. This allows users to open your newsfeed through a link of your choosing. (We suspect it will mostly be triggered through an Updates link in a website’s main navigation.)
If you’d like to use this option on your site, sign in to your Dashboard. Then click on the Embeds link and change the Badge/tab position to None. Save your settings (at the bottom of the page). Once you have, use the code snippet provided to open your sidebar via JavaScript, or in a link.
